Definition of Belts in goju-ryu karate

White belt symbolizes purity and inner acceptance that you do not know anything yet. It is associated with the beginning.

Yellow and Orange belts are associated with the sun, warmth; warmth is associated with energy, and the energy with life.

Green is associated with plants, nature, growth and fertility, with peace and balance.

Blue is associated with the sea, with depth. Calm though sometimes exciting with volatile energy that can convert and use a large amount of energy.

Brown is symbolically associated with a tree, with a solid structure that at the same time has the softness and flexibility to the influence of environmental factors.

The black belt is associated with earth, with massive solidity and strength. A black belt is the same as a white belt that naturally turned black after a long period of use.
